BIBO BOHOL
I know its too late to write about Bibo Bohol. It’s been months since the last Bibo Bohol Eco-Cultural Challenge held at Camp Magsaysay at the Municipality of Bilar in Bohol. Even several days passed & some memories almost fade… the Bibo Bohol spirit still lives within me. Its objective of raising the awareness on the values & significance of our rich ecological & cultural heritage kept intact & even untouchable as the latest addition to my set of humble principles.
I envy the province of Bohol for having such talented & committed people who works for a noble purpose such as this one. In the person of more or less than 100 camp staff & coordinators headed by Mr. Lutgardo Labad, my admiration.
Bibo Bohol Challenge is tiring. The eco-challenge is fun but my favorite is the cultural challenge. This is an opportunity to travel Bohol & to dwell more on the Boholano culture. The night performances should be the best opportunity for us to enjoy the camp but given the hectic schedules, time constraint, & our limited capacity, it was reduced. After an exhausted challenge; a chat with our new found friends in the evening will just complete the day. I was never so tired in my life before the Bibo but its all worth it. It’s totally non-sense if I will complain on that note. We came to Bohol for the challenge anyway.
Camp Magsaysay provides an amenity that makes our stay in the forest easier. There are showers & comfort rooms, a small and a very dear tindahan for all of us, and the staff house that charges our cellphones & camcorders (thanks for the Bibo Staff for allowing us). Also, the presence of medical & security teams made us feel more secure on the jungle & real life beast.
Local delicacies during the camp are palatably exciting beyond my not so high expectation on the ‘camp food’. It was satisfactorily okay even I heard some local participants complaining about too much puto & suman. I think a dietician will do the trick. Anyway its just the “too much rice” that didn’t works for me well.
I thanked the Lord when the last day came. Going back to Batangas, a place where I really miss (for a week) is anticipation. But I cannot hide the sadness within. Easier said than done leaving friends you learn to value & a place you learn to love is the toughest challenge in Bibo.
Bibo Bohol is a success because it inspires me. Given some unavoidable circumstances, its honesty to its objective still breathe on its participants, staff, & organizers… and I think that’s the most important.
Mabuhay!
